Automotive technology is Beno Rubin’s passion.
And he’s living it every day as the Director of the Regional Automotive Center (RAC), the area’s comprehensive automotive training center, which prepares students for entry-level careers in the automotive field and provides updated training for those already working.
His second passion is education.
After a rough start at a four-year school, Beno got a second chance at Westchester Community College in New York where he was one of the first graduates of the college’s Toyota T-TEN program. “I wouldn’t be sitting here if not for a community college,” Beno says. “I can relate to our students, and I understand that each one has a story to tell and goals to meet. It’s our job to ensure that they are all successful.”
To that end, Beno started donating once a year to support the Regional Automotive Center Fund, which helps provide for the program’s facilities and equipment in various capacities.
Funds received from the Foundation are a critically important source of cash for growing programs like the RAC, which constantly requires more space, new equipment, and technology to ensure graduates are prepared for the demands of the workforce. The Foundation also connects corporate donors with opportunities to make in-kind donations of machinery and equipment to support the RAC and other TCC programs.
“What makes this place work are the extremely dedicated faculty and staff,” Beno says. “Everyone, and I mean everyone, goes above and beyond to do the job here. There are so many different avenues and funds – so many different areas of need. Just look and see what your donation can do.”
